I have to say....I am pretty proud of this sweatshirt. Construction was a challenge for me this time around, but I realized that the more time I put into the construction, the more unique, well-fitting, and beautiful an item I make. The prouder I am. The more I wear it. So in essence, more time = more satisfaction.
Without further ado, introducing my first ever Avacado Hoodie!
Fabrics: Turquoise knit, JoAnn's; Denim Cotton Lycra, Field's Fabrics
This is the first item of clothing I've ever made that I've enjoyed wearing regularly. Like...I probably wore it 5 days in a row. Recognize the fabric? I used it on this Slouchy Cardigan for my niece back in February! Picking fabrics is half the battle when making adult clothing and I had my moments of "ummm I don't think I'm ever going to wear this" while in the midst of making this hoodie. Though turquoise is my favorite color, I was afraid I was going to look like I came straight out of the 80's. And HEY, I did....so consider this a tribute to my year of birth.
A few of my favorite details include those fun pocket tabs above....
That cool side panel....
Overall, I am super happy with how this turned out! I love the comfy materials I used (maybe a different color scheme next time...eh eh live and learn!) and it fits nicely. If I end up using a thicker material next time, I will probably size up...this one is pretty snug (I can wear a cami underneath, but probably not a t-shirt.)
Thanks for stopping by!
