Size: Slimfit, Small, 2" inseam, rise between mid- and high-rise
Fabric: Bottom weight and crochet pom trim from Joann's
Mods: played with the rise to make it in between the mid- and high-rise options. I also lengthened the waist elastic - **Make sure you try the elastic length on yourself before inserting it.** It is worth the extra step to ensure a nice fit.
What's that? Quit talking about my amazing deal-finding skillz-with-a-z and get to the important stuff? Okay, okay! Here is the verdict on these shorts:
- I'm definitely going to revert to the normal mid-rise. I raised it this time to experiment with the fit and feel and thought maybe adding to the rise would make them a bit more comfortable. But, I'm not a huge fan of where they sit and I'm used to my shorts sitting at my hip, not above. After wearing these a little bit more they became more comfortable but at first I was tugging at them. This is definitely a personal preference thing! As you can see they look fine on.
- I'm thrilllllllled that I can use bottom weights with this pattern now! I'd rather wear shorts with a little more substance to them, and I think they look put together, not like pj shorts.
- I wish I could do a flat front Coachella Shorts version. The higher the rise the more bunchy the crotch becomes, especially when you sit down. I think some of that would be eliminated if there wasn't any gathering in the front due to the elastic. I'm considering doing a flat front between the hip bones then starting the elastic there...hmmmmmm ideas!
