Fabrics: Assorted quilting cottons and cotton flannel from Joann's
Difficulty: Easy peasy! Great for sewists of all ages
A while back I pinned a pin (don't we all) of this great FREE baby smock pattern that was created by Kymy of Everything Your Mama Made & More intended for babies that are in the NICU. Clothes are tricky for those teeny tiny babes that are often hooked up with tubes and needing special attention to get strong and healthy. Nothing fits and everything gets in the way, and it's hard for parents to see their new little ones covered in tubes, sans clothing. Enter these smocks. They are a perfect way to bring some holiday cheer to families who need it the most! In the pattern, Kymy invites everyone to sew some up for local hospitals or organizations who can distribute them.
The vest construction and velcro closures are so simple and genius, making it easy for doctors and nurses to check on their little patients. The entire inside is soft flannel, so nothing irritates baby's skin.
Want to join in the sew-along? Don't forget to check out the pattern here and call your local hospital to see if they allow items like this. If they don't, there are other organizations noted in Kymy's pattern that will gladly take your crafty donations! What a beautiful way to care for someone who may be stuck in the hospital over the holidays! Or any time really...no matter what time of the year, you can make these for friends and loved ones who would love to see their new little ones clothed in something special.
3 down, 3 more to go. I better get busy this weekend :) I will be taking next week off for Thanksgiving, so I hope you all enjoy a great holiday with your family and friends!
Thanks for stopping by!
